Majka Burhardt - Part 4
Majka harbors a passion for thin cracks in sometimes not so solid rock around the globe. She’s done first rock and ice ascents in South Africa, Ethiopia, Namibia, and in the US and credits climbing with saving her from pursing the life of a professional floor hockey player. Majka’s also an author of two books, a filmmaker, and creator of “Additive Adventure”—when adventure goes beyond exploration to cultural and environmental connections that create a larger conversation of singular and collective human meaning. Majka’s newest project is a pioneering biological study of the cliffside habitat on Mt. Namuli, Mozambique’s second highest mountain and a critical target for conservation in southeast Africa.
Join us here for this live interview conducted at Patagonia Boulder as Majka chats about climbing 54-degree granite slabs for science, adventures in snake avoidance and self delusion, and how to make the obscure relevant.
